Growing up, my mother emphasized that I should "NEVER" share or accept any form of "hand me down clothing" from people who were/are family members. I obeyed this rule based on the fear that my mommy may discover a clothing item in my closet that she or my sisters never gave me...then as a teenager, it got to be more difficult, because at the time, "pigeoning" was becoming more popular. Nonetheless, receiving "used clothes" is now given the term; purchasing vintage...But let's be honest, not everything can be called vintage!

i think ppl often make that mistake and call anything bought pre-worn, "vintage". But there is a big difference between buying something that's two yrs old in a resale shop and finding something from a completely different era. I guess thats what makes something "vintage" to me. For me,QUINTESSENTIAL PIECE FROM A DIFFERENT ERA= VINTAGE!!
